This morning, CEO had an eye-opening business visit with Glen-Ed Food Pantry Executive Director (Jane Ahasay) and Pantry Manager (Susan Schueler).

Our students were able to tour the brick and mortar location in the heart of Edwardsville. Susan and Jane shared how the food pantry works as well as the business details of running a nonprofit.

-----> 💰 𝑵𝒐𝒏-𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑭𝑰𝑻 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝑩𝑼𝑫𝑮𝑬𝑻! While the Glen-Ed Food Pantry relies on the generosity of volunteers and their time, Executive Director, Jane, still has to report to a board of directors and plan for unexpected expenses, projected growth and the future!

----> ❤️ 𝑮𝑭𝑷 (𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆) 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 600 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑻𝑯𝑳𝒀?! There are people in need in EVERY community. Susan and Jane encouraged our students to keep their eyes open in whatever community they plant roots and find ways to give back in whatever ways possible.

-----> 👚 𝐆𝐅𝐏 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬! Clothing, toys, shoes, décor, toiletries…they accept it all! Many household items donated go to the Second Chance Thrift Shop located on the second floor at Glen-Ed Pantry. Client families receive a gift card to shop for free, and anyone can shop at our affordable prices. All proceeds help support programs at the pantry.
